Monday of the 1st Week of Lent

The first reading (Lv 19:1–2, 11–18) reminds us of God’s call to holiness: “Be holy, for I, the LORD your God, am holy.” This command urges us to reject wrongdoing—stealing, lying, dishonesty—and to “love your neighbor as yourself.” True holiness is grounded in concrete, loving actions toward others.

In the Gospel (Mt 25:31–46), Jesus shows us that our final judgment revolves around how we treat the most vulnerable. By caring for the hungry, the sick, and the needy, we serve Christ Himself. This Lenten season invites us to turn from sin and choose concrete acts of compassion and mercy, becoming more like our holy and loving God.
