Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Readings:

  • First Reading: Numbers 21:4–9

  • Psalm: 102(101):2–3, 16–18, 19–21

  • Gospel: John 8:21–30

Reflection
The people of Israel complain and are afflicted by venomous snakes; Moses raises a bronze serpent so that those who look upon it with faith may be healed. Jesus refers to His own “lifting up” on the cross as the source of salvation. Gazing upon Christ crucified reminds us that God’s love conquers sin and death. In this final stretch of Lent, lift your eyes to the cross with trust and gratitude.
