Fifth Sunday of Lent (April 6, Cycle C)

Readings (Cycle C):

  • First Reading: Ezekiel 37:12–14

  • Psalm: 130(129):1–2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8

  • Second Reading: Romans 8:8–11

  • Gospel: John 11:1–45 (The Raising of Lazarus)

Reflection
In Ezekiel’s prophecy, God announces that He will open graves and give His Spirit so that people may live. Paul says that those who have the Spirit of Christ pass from death to life. The Gospel tells the story of Jesus raising Lazarus, anticipating His own Resurrection. Christ is the Lord of Life: He calls each of us to come out of our “tombs” of sin, discouragement, or despair. On the threshold of Holy Week, welcome the life-giving power of Jesus, who continues to raise what seems lost.
