Friday of the 1st Week of Lent

Readings:

  • First Reading: Ezekiel 18:21–28

  • Psalm: 130:1–2, 3–4, 5–7a, 7bc–8

  • Gospel: Matthew 5:20–26 (Reconciliation and Righteousness)

Reflection
Ezekiel shows us God’s desire for the wicked to turn from sin and live. Jesus builds on this by urging reconciliation and righteousness that go beyond mere external observance. Do we harbor anger or grudges? Lent challenges us to let go of what separates us from others and from God. True righteousness begins in the heart, transforming our attitudes and relationships with compassion and mercy.
