Concert Series: Organ Recital

  • Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart 89 Ridge Street Newark, NJ, 07104 United States (map)

With high hopes and anxious anticipation we announce the 53rd season of performances of the Cathedral Concert Series. As of this writing, we have advanced to being able to offer, once again, full-length concerts, and are grateful for your ongoing emotional and financial support during this transition. To show our gratitude, and to express how much we look forward to seeing you again, the Cathedral Concert Series is proud to offer every performance in this season with no admission charge, that is, completely free! We hope this incentive will inspire you to re-visit our beautiful neo-Gothic edifice and share in its majestic splendor, while enjoying some very inspiring music.

Beginning in September, the series includes nine full-length concerts featuring diverse, high-caliber performances from world-class artists at no cost to the concert goer. These concerts are complimented by ‘Wednesdays at Noon’ - a series of half-hour recitals followed by an optional tour.

Many of the concerts will feature the Cathedral Basilica’s awe-inspiring organ. With 9,513 pipes, this magnificent organ is the largest of its kind in the Garden State. It is our sincere hope that concertgoers will be inspired, and their spirits lifted by the abundance of music being offered.

Kicking off our 53rd Concert Season on Sunday, September 19th at 3:00 PM is Katelyn Emerson, who will be presenting a program of organ music including works by: Parker, Tournemire, Elgar, and Koehne.
